Can Colorbond be installed over my existing tile roof? No — the existing tile is stripped first. Colorbond is laid on new battens (or salvaged sound battens) over fresh sarking. The strip stage is where asbestos sarking commonly turns up.

Will Colorbond be hotter than my tile roof? Modern Colorbond (Thermatech-coated) reflects more solar heat than concrete tile and is comparable to the lighter terracotta tile colours. With anticon insulation laid as part of the install, the roof cavity is typically cooler than the previous tile cavity.
