Round PVC, square Colorbond, or rectangular fluted. Sized correctly for the gutter run (one downpipe per ~12m of gutter, more in high-rainfall sections). Downpipes are typically the second failure point after the gutter itself.

Fascia capping

Aged or rotting timber fascia capped in Colorbond. Saves the cost of replacing the timber underneath where the fascia is sound but ugly. Typically paired with new gutters.

Eaves repair

Where water has gotten behind a failed gutter and rotted the eave timber. Repaired (or partially replaced) before new gutters go on.

Gutter guard

Mesh gutter guards (most common) or solid-cover guards (premium). Particularly worthwhile under deciduous trees or on rooflines facing established gum trees. Reduces how often the gutters need cleaning.

Overflow design

A common upgrade — Adelaide’s intense summer storms can overwhelm undersized gutters. Adding rear-overflow slots to existing gutters, or upsizing the gutter profile, prevents water from going inside the building when the system overloads.

The biggest cost-drivers are roof access (steep two-storey runs cost more), the volume of secondary work (rotted fascia, broken downpipe junctions), and the colour match (standard Colorbond is in stock; non-standard adds 1–2 weeks).

Gutter guard — when it’s worth it

Worth it if:

• You’re under deciduous trees (oak, plane, ash) that drop seasonally
• You have established gum trees within 15 metres of the roof (gum leaves are the worst gutter clogger in Adelaide)
• You can’t easily access your roof for annual cleaning
• You’ve had at least one gutter overflow event in the past 3 years

Probably not worth it if:

• Your gutters run clean for 18+ months without intervention
• You have access for annual gutter cleaning

Frequently asked

Can I just patch a leaking gutter? Sometimes. A small puncture from a fallen branch can be sealed with gutter sealant for $50–$120. Rust-through, bracket failure, or fascia rot — those need replacement.

Why are my new gutters overflowing? Either the gutter is undersized for the catchment (rare with quad sizing), or the downpipe is undersized / blocked, or rear-overflow slots haven’t been cut. We diagnose it on the site visit.
